Mark SutherlandFormerly the Cape Fillies Guineas and second leg of the national fillies championship, the Highlands Classic was expected to be a walkover for Ecurie. She was sent out odds-on at 1/3, with 6/1 offered about Gosforth Park Fillies Guineas winner Enchanted Garden, and 14/1 bar. With 300m to go everything looked to be going to plan as Felix Coetzee and Ecurie took the lead, but in a major upset stable companion Bimbina and Mark Sutherland swooped late to win by half a length.

For race-sponsor Graham Beck it was a second win in three years in the Gr1 event, following Flying Snowdrop, also trained by Terrance Millard, in 1984. Bimbina and Ecurie are both Argentine-bred fillies.
