All-conquering trainerTerrance Millard notably didn't have a representative in Scottsville's Gr1 Allan Robertson Fillies Futurity, a race he had won twice in the previous three runnings. Further lustre was lost from the race when Jungle Cove’s talented daughter Divine Forest, prior to this year the highest priced yearling at auction in SA, was sidelined through strained muscles.
Victory went to Pasqueflower, a not too fashionably bred filly by Flower Power out of Oligarchy mare, Mini Pulla, bred by Mrs J B Pause in the Cape. Content to sit off the pace, she took the lead at about the 300m and showed her 13 rivals a clean pair of heels to win by 4½ lengths, starting as the 3/1 joint-favourite with Karate-Do. The winning distance may have been flattering, since some scrimmaging behind her interfered with the chances of Karate-Do. Holding second money by a short-head was Vaslov's daughter Loves Peace. with Young Lady third in a strung-out field.
