In a slowish run race jockey Felix Coetzee made an early effort to be well placed. Held in fifth through the turn, Potomac appeared to come under pressure long before Lines Of Power in the straight, but that may have been because of the slowish race-pace rather than anything else. Once in full cry, Potomac pounded clear to win by five lengths from Doubly Sure, who denied Lines Of Power second place in the final strides.
This was Potomac’s eighth win from 11 starts, and made him a rare dual Derby winner.
